"I believe that Faces of the Future is a great program that provides young teens with opportunities that they may not otherwise have.  Through this program they are able to interact with working professionals that can provide advice and guidance.  This program also provides a peer group that will travel to the High School together and will be able to interact with each other more, sharing their thoughts, feelings and goals.  It starts students thinking about their future at a young age, where as many may not even begin to think about their future until their senior year, when it is too late.  Through the field trips that this program takes, students are offered the chance to go see University and College environments, as well as build team work through "ropes" courses.  Overall, I think this program is a great way to help the students' transition into high school and to start thinking about setting future goals."

“The two summer activities that I attended provided an opportunity for bonding with the students and also showed them they can do anything if they have the desire, motivation and recognition.”

"I think the Faces of the Future program built confidence, gave self worth and self esteem, encouragement where none may have exsisted before."

“Most memorable moment was a classroom discussion about Virginia Tech. and local girl killed on school playground in Ferndale. Students wrote letters to the family and talked about professions that would help others in those kinds of situations.”

“What I would like students to remember from the School Liaison program is to develop their ideas and goals.”

“Volunteering for the Faces of the Future mentoring program helped me relate to younger people and do what I could to adapt and help in whatever way I could. Under all the layers of 'stuff', they are really unsure of themselves. They need more positive reinforcement.”

"I really enjoyed the physical activities. I also think we had a better connection with the students at the middle school. It is a good program and requires commitment."

“What I learned from the Faces of the Future mentoring program is patience. Allot of students need a mentor starting at an early age, no matter if you have a big or small family.”

Marie Delbridge
William Beaumont Hospital

“What I learned from being a mentor for the Faces of the Future program is that students who are not talkative are a challenge that can be conquered with a stick-to-it attitude. You will get out of the program, what you put in!”
